SMO-1 Smokey
Overview: Wittwex Inc.'s SMO-1 Smokey is a 50-ton, jump capable 'Mech,
armed with a PPC, one medium laser, two SRM-2s, and two flamers. Built on
the successful Thunderbird chassis, it is designed specifically for laying
fire. Unlike the Firestarter, it has the capability to inflict heavy damage
to overheated, slow 'Mechs.
Employment: The SMO-1 Smokey will usually be used in a company or battalion of 'Mechs. It is especially useful in urban or wooden areas. With is speedy movement, it can quickly close upon enemy 'Mechs, set their surrounding area on fire with its two flamers and inferno-carrying SRM-2s, then quickly leavy the scene and use its PPC on the overheated, slow 'Mechs. The Smokey also is a great 'Mech for ambushing other 'Mechs.
The Smokey is useful even after it has completed its task of laying fires. A PPC, a medium laser and 9 tons of armor, combined with a top speed of 86.4 kph and a 150m jump capacity, make the Smokey a 'Mech that can take on most other medium 'Mechs.
Availability: Wittwex Inc. always has a small number of Smokeys available for immediate shipping. Larger numbers of up to 50 'Mechs require 6 months to a year for production and shipping.
