Shooting Star
Overview: The Shooting Star is a 40 ton conventional fighter/attacker
aircraft, designed specifically for ground attack and close air support.
While being cheap to acquire and maintain, it offers good performance in
ground-attack roles.
Employment: The Shooting Star is best used against infantry and light vehicles. Four machine guns and two SRMs can eliminate large groups of infantry and lighter vehicles within minutes. It can even operate effectively against light 'Mechs.
A bombload of eight bombs, or five bombs and three external fuel tanks, can deal great amounts of damage to enemy units.
A convential turbine offers long range, good speed and outstanding maneuverability at little cost. The Shooting Star is exceptionally easy to repair and maintain, making it a good choice for indepent air forces that cannot afford aerospace fighters.
